What’s new in NetSuite?

Juggling flaming plates on a unicycle on a tightrope. That’s what managing business operations often feels like. Thankfully, NetSuite offers you and your business relief, clarity and order.

And it’s brand new. NetSuite is constantly releasing new updates, and they’ve just treated us to NetSuite 2025.1. It doesn’t just throw you a fire extinguisher; it gives you everything you need to get back to enjoying your act.

We’ve broken down what matters for you and your business – and how we at SuiteSparkle help you make it all click together:

AI-powered narrative reporting

NetSuite’s new Narrative Reporting tool pulls actual stories out of your financial data. It’s basically a way for NetSuite to use AI to provide even more insights via your charts. It automatically analyses and explains trends and variances, so you have a detailed understanding of what might be going on. And there’s no longer any need to manually type out long summaries (in most cases, at least).

AI-powered help with SuiteAnswers

SuiteAnswers has seen a massive update and now comes with based-in generative AI. Ask it a question and you get a human-readable answer, not just a dump of links. If you’ve ever lost an hour scrolling through support articles for one setting (we feel you), this one’s for you.

AI tools for developers

The new n/llm module in SuiteScript lets developers hook ‘large language model’ AIs into their own NetSuite setups. Generate documentation on the fly. Build custom chat tools. Detect anomalies in business data. Improve email production. And much more. In short, it’s a way to encourage further customisation and variability without rebuilding the wheel every time or overcomplicating your deployment.

Shopify B2B integration

Alongside Salesforce, NetSuite 2025.1 now also brings native support for Shopify’s B2B e-commerce features. The connector maps products, prices, customers and orders between Shopify and NetSuite without needing custom code. It’s a clean fix for businesses selling wholesale through Shopify.

Better invoice handling with Bill Capture

Bill Capture now checks for duplicates before anything gets posted. It also pulls across user notes and tags into the final bill, so you don’t lose context between scanning and booking. There’s even a new reference number column to keep everything traceable.

Flexible billing before subscription activation

SuiteBilling now lets you invoice for hardware, services or project work before a subscription starts. It also brings a much cleaner way to separate billing and revenue recognition, which is excellent for managing cash flow and keeping your accountants happy.

Auto time tracking for field service teams

The field service update now generates time bills based on job start and end times. This helps eliminate under- or over-billing and makes life easier for everyone back in the office.

File uploads from the mobile app

Technicians can now upload multiple files from the NetSuite mobile app at once. It’s a small change but a massive timesaver when your team’s out in the field and needs to attach photos or documents to a work order.

Visual production planning with Manufacturing Scheduler

The new Manufacturing Scheduler SuiteApp means you can allocate tasks more efficiently across work centres. It takes into account things like operation durations and scheduling dependencies and gives you a drag-and-drop view of production plans.

Automatic serial number assignment

Auto Serial Numbering now assigns serial numbers without manual entry. This makes inventory handling tighter and keeps traceability intact while reducing the load on your workforce. It’s especially useful for regulated industries or high-value goods.

Compliance templates in Compliance 360

Compliance 360 now includes reusable templates and better visuals to support recurring audit workflows. You can also export audits in bulk and prep documentation faster. Less time on checklists, more time on actual controls.

Grant tracking with new SuiteApp

A new Grant Management SuiteApp brings structured grant tracking into SuiteSuccess editions. It’s useful for companies with public and private revenue streams, especially in non-profit, education, or healthcare sectors.

Better workforce rules in SuitePeople

SuitePeople Workforce Management now includes break-related pay rules. If a break’s too short, late, or skipped, it can trigger pay adjustments automatically. That’s especially handy if you have international staff in regions with strict labour rules.

Improved cash flow forecasting in Cash 360

Cash 360 has been updated to include instalment dates and due dates in forecasts. It gives a much clearer view of upcoming inflows and outflows and could make all the difference regarding tighter planning or when revenue is more spread out.

Customer 360 with new KPIs and filters

Customer 360 now gives you more visibility into customer data. It includes quick links to key reports, lists of estimates and opportunities, and updated KPIs like year-to-date sales. You can also filter opportunities by sales rep or stage to keep sales teams focused.

OAuth 2.0 support for SuiteCloud SDK

NetSuite’s developer toolkit now fully supports OAuth 2.0 authentication. That means better security when connecting external accounts, tools or building SuiteApps, and less exposure to the risks of token mismanagement or shared credentials.
